hey I just see your post.. very true! hmm I just hope that there will be scientists who are SUCH enthousiasts as Dan.. people like him make a change as they have a drive, passions & know-how.. 1:37 ouch! ‘there’s no wires in the leaf’ & then the passion bit that;s an asset that makes a change.. at 3:57 or so onwards… ‘ if that does not get you excited, then don’t do science!’.. yes!!!

let’s go solar and wind for real. we could end world hunger with that shit.

  3. micropower9 says:

This is old news. everytime we have a breakthrough to use solar energy, the inventors sell out to the oil companies and the oil companies sit on the patents. forcing oil down our throats.

  5. epshot says:

    wouldn’t you?

  6. micropower9 says:

no i wouldn’t', id tell the oil companies that humanity is not for sell and force them to buy into the new solar energy comapany. so the new green company would use oil money to expand

  7. epshot says:

humanity isn’t for sale. just a patent. who knows. maybe the oil companies don’t buy out patents the way we think. maybe they steal them or acquire them from people in other illegal ways. i can’t see everyone who has ever discovered a good renewable source of energy all selling out to oil companies for money. i’m sure most people who are looking to discover such methods of generating energy start with good intentions. yet nothing ever seems to break through. can EVERYONE be susceptible to money?

  8. epshot says:

i tend to think so. call it dogmatic thinking but i believe everyone has their price. but i also think a powerful oil company would rather dispose of humanitarians and hippies than pay them millions for their patents and ideas. why spend (just to throw out numbers) 10 million to buy a patent when you can spend 1 million to formulate a clean assassination. or 1 million to use political connections to throw someone into incarceration for life? that makes sense to even me, and i’m a nice guy!

  9. robz40 says:

Patents are made public and everyone can read them example google espacenet. Intellectual prpoerty on a patent lasts only 20 years and ONLY in the countries where they are filed and approved . Moral of the story: you cannot hide a patent nor stop the production of technological innovation after 20 years everywhere in the world. Conspiracies are the pinnacle of nonsense.

  10. robz40 says:

Prof Nocera forgets to mention that you cannot extract from the environment more energy with SPECIFC power that is greater than the one available in the envrionmnent at that moment. If you had to use the method described to to supply the US, the installation would cost more than the entire US GDP.

  11. epshot says:

Is it possible a company can re-patent something before any one else gets to chance to? and i mean internationally. is it possible that google, after 20 years (which is a long ass time mind you), could patent their espacenet again before you or I or even another corperation has the chance to?

  12. robz40 says:

No, you cannot patent what has already been patented. You cannot get another 20 years of intellectual property years once the time has expired. But it gets worse, you cannot patent a technological innovation once it has already been published or made public. Also methods, ideas theories cannot been patented. It’s got to be a technological innovation that solves a practical problem.
    google
    ipo what is a patent

  13. LordProphet77 says:

Nope I would tell them to take their money and shove it. I would give it to the world and I would patient it.

  14. parnellitube says:

Solar panels and electrolysis? That’s the breakthrough? I like the animation with all the hydrogen tanks, as if the puny solar panels on your roof could ever fill those up!

  15. Sonyoooo3 says:

The tree are shrinking and expand so can there be some sort of presurizing system? Just like presure-cooker

  16. MrAstro888 says:

guess what… look up carbon tax and carbon tax credit… bills, yeah they will never go away till we can live free and free of greed

  17. bobo888bobo says:

that is great if they found a way to make electrolysis more effective because normally it is terrible. it is also good if you have a need for hydrogen. but they say batteries are expensive and ineffecient? that is wrong.

I think the idea that solar is no good because it does not run 24hr/ day is silly. we are not going to close down all fossil fuel plants when solar plants are running. how nice will it be to not be polluting whenever the sun shines. much better than now.

  18. jburt56 says:

    Ultracapacitors.

  19. mariasman100 says:

Better yet… use unrefined biomass to power efficient external combustion engines, and use waste heat efficiently for space heating, water heating, and even water distillation. Think about it for a while.

  20. Millz444 says:

if this is so amazing why have i only seen it on youtube. not only that but while trying to look up a video game…
